The answer to this question really depends on a couple of factors. First and foremost is do you have uninsured motorist coverage? Assuming that you do, then the question is whether that coverage requires there to be an impact, because a lot of policies will not provide you uninsured motorist coverage unless there was actual contact between the vehicles. If your insurance policy says there must be impact and there was no impact when you were veered off the side of the road, then there may not be any coverage.
