I think there are two ways of looking at this question. Number one is, are you going to provide the records directly? If you want to establish your case, then you do want to provide them with evidence of your injuries and your medical records. However, if the question is, “Should I sign a release or authorization for the at-fault driver’s insurance company,” we typically recommend against that because oftentimes the insurance company’s going to use that to not only look for records related to this accident, but look for older medical records that they could use against you as well, and you’re not required to give that release to them.
