In the state of Florida you have four years to bring a negligence claim in a motorcycle accident case. However, that time may be shortened if the claim is against a governmental entity, so for example if you’re motorcycle accident was due to going through a pothole that was in the ground and that pothole was due to the negligent maintenance by a local, or state entity or even a federal entity like the federal highway bureau, then those types of claims you have to bring notice of the claim within three years of the accident. Because these time limits can vary we generally recommend that you seek the advice of an attorney to make sure you file it in a timely manner.
