You checked the status of your Social Security disability application. It says,
“We requested that you send the following documents to the office that is processing your application:
Proof of Number Holder Name Change.”
What in the world does that mean?
For women, it may mean that the Social Security Administration wants to verify their previous names, such as maiden names, prior married names, etc.
For men, it is much less common to have name changes. So why would a man receive such a message? It may mean that your records show a misspelled name or a nickname.
Just be sure to respond to the SSA with any requested information to ensure your application moves forward.
